A LITTLE HISTORY What is Mud Cloth and where did it come from? Mud Cloth was originated by the women of Mali's Bamana culture centuries ago. Hand woven and hand dyed Mud Cloth or Mudcloth, uses a century old process through numerous applications of various plant juices, teas, and mud. No two pieces are alike and each pattern and color combination has a symbolic meaning of its culture. Long ago, the Mud Cloth clothes were worn only by initiates of traditional African societies, today it has become more available to the rest of the community, and the world at large, and can be seen from Paris runways to various uses in fine home furnishings, and decorative accessories...
